ANTECEDENTES HISTÓRICOS SOBRE LA CONTAMINACIÓN POR LINDANO EN O PORRIÑO

A brief summary has been done of the history of pollution by lindane in the town of O Porriño (Pontevedra, NW-Spain), where it took place in the past uncontrolled dumping of residues from the production of lindane. This has led to an important affection to the soil and groundwater by various isomers of hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH). We also exposed the main conclusions of some research carried out in the area, and thanks to those studies it has been detected various sources of pollution, establishing acceptable concentrations in soils and groundwater on the basis of risk analysis and guide the regeneration efforts that have been carried out.
