Abstract

Rainfall simulators are being more and more used for hydrological and erosive studies, so it is necessary that they are well characterized for a good interpretation of the results. It is desirable that simulated rainfall were similar to intense natural rain. It has been stu- died the size and velocity of the drop, as well as the kinetic energy. The 3/8 HHMFP 115 14 is the nozzle that presents an acceptable uniformity coefficient (80,7 a 92,4 %), for all the tested pressures. For this same nozzle, at a pressure of 1,3 kg cm-2, the drop diameter has been of 1,4 mm and the kinetic energy has been 20,3 J mm-1 m-2.

Key words: Rainfall simulated, drops size, drops velocity, kinetic energy.
